Jacksonville: Allstate Says City is Becoming Safer for Drivers

By Florida Auto Accident Attorney on September 7, 2010

For the sixth year in a row, Allstate Insurance Company has released its “Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report” ranking the top 200 cities for their frequency of auto accidents. While Fort Collins, Colorado takes top honors, Jacksonville has risen in the ranks to the number 69 position, up four spots from last year.

The data means that in Fort Collins, the average driver will be involved in a car crash every 14.5 years. That is a number 31 percent lower than the national average.

The Allstate Best Drivers Report states that Port St. Lucie is the safest city in Florida at number 30. Cape Coral is second at 33, and Jacksonville is the third Florida city to place in the top 200.

The average driver can expect to get in some type of auto accident once every 10 years.

Driving Statistics in Florida
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles also showed a positive trend in decreasing fatalities on our roadways statewide in 2009.

Auto accidents are often due to careless driving or a failure to yield the right of way. Improper lane change and improper backing up also contribute to car crashes in Florida.

Liability Issues
A reputable Florida auto accident attorney will want to explore all of the contributing causes of an auto accident including the condition of the roadway, the ability of the driver, or whether speeding or driving under the influence was involved by either party in order to determine who is the at-fault driver.
